How Motorized Blinds Work
A complete Novo motorized system has three pieces. We supply, install, and program all three on the same visit.
Step 1
The Motor
Our lithium tubular motor sits inside the blind tube. Whisper-quiet (under 38 dB), rechargeable battery lasts 12+ months between charges. Optional solar panel for hands-off operation.
Step 2
The Remote
Slim 15-channel handheld remote controls one blind, a room, or the whole house. Magnetic wall cradle keeps it in place. Battery-free RF means no Wi-Fi needed for basic operation.
Step 3
The Smart Hub
The gateway plugs into your router and bridges your blinds to Google Home, Alexa, HomeKit, and the Novo app. One hub controls up to 60 blinds across the home.

Do I need to rewire my house?
No. Our motors are battery-powered with a 12-month charge cycle, and the smart hub plugs into your router with a single cable. Hardwired options are available for new construction if you prefer.
Will it work with Google Home, Alexa, and Apple HomeKit?
Yes — all three. Our gateway bridges our motors to every major smart-home platform so you can group blinds into scenes, set schedules, and control by voice.
How noisy are the motors?

What happens if a motor fails?
We cover every motor under a 5-year warranty. Our Edmonton service team handles replacements locally, so swaps are typically done within a week — no overseas shipping.
Can I retrofit motors into my existing Novo blinds?
In most cases yes. If your Novo blinds use our standard tube size we can swap a manual mechanism for our motor on site. Bring us a photo and we'll confirm.
